Welcome to The Penny Broadside – the LSP Blog!
As you can see, I have given the Blog an identity, namely, The Penny Broadside. This is not just a whim, although it is that. There is a purpose which is to focus on legal comment with an element of satire. The Penny Broadside will not be a kind longer version of Twitter in which [keep reading...]
The Clarke Edict
So the old-guard bombast has spoken. He with the brown-suede shoes and the delivery that suggests, that, frankly, I don’t really care anyway. Of course, I refer to the Secretary of Justice, Ken Clarke. The man who slept through Osborne’s Big Budget for Growth. The man who although a lawyer quite clearly regards most lawyers [keep reading...]

The future of the Vauxhall plant in Luton has been secured after a decision was made to build the new Vivaro van at the site. A mitigation statement
When you read stories like the robbery of the taxi driver by two violent drunks, it’s hard imagine there could be any mitigation. The two drunk assailants – Liam Hegarty and Lee Durnin – one of whom held the taxi driver round the neck – are now in choke (sorry about the pun). Here’s the [keep reading...]

But because [keep reading...]
Now police dogs get in on social networking
Police dog Tyler began his official police dog training on Monday. The 18-month-old German Shepherd puppy is one of three chosen to showcase their lives as police dogs with the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Dog Unit through their own Facebook profiles. Dog Unit Inspector Steve Mann said: “Now that Tyler is mature enough physically and mentally, [keep reading...]
Passed your use-by date
Both the Con-Dems and the Gordon Brown can-save-the-world Government made it abundantly clear that what is now referred to as the “default” retirement age must go. Interesting though this is, for employers and employees alike, this post is not about retirement. Its about food! Here is the link to the rather shabby little story which [keep reading...]
